Week 3 Daily Fantasy Football Sleepers | Daily Fantasy Sports

preston parkerDaily fantasy football is all about finding players of a smaller salary that will produce similar or greater numbers than the guy of the larger salary. Thereby allowing you to take that excess funding and use it on someone who is a bit more stable in their production. In order to do this every week we have to go sleeper hunting (or as the seasonal fans call it, waiver wire picking). So todays post will focus on the top players to target this weekend, while tomorrows will focus on the biggest trap plays (sleepers to be avoided). But I always go good news first, so lets get it started.

Dexter McCluster ? RB ? Kansas City Chiefs
I wrote a lengthy article about the implications surrounding the Jamaal Charles season ending injury, and how Dexter McCluster is one of the main beneficiaries. To read that article head over here. The jist of it all is that Thomas Jones should vulture a variety of the short yardage stuff, but McCluster is a speedster who has the ability to make an innocent looking draw play turn into an 80 yard score. His FanDuel salary is $5,200, and I would expect for his DraftStreet and Daily Joust prices to be equally low. Against San Diego this weekend he may not be the best play, but hes an interesting gamble if you?re in a tournament.

Roy Helu ? RB ? Washington Redskins
In week one Helu had 1 attempt for a total of 2 yards, meanwhile in week 2 he got the ball 10 times and scampered for a total of 74 yards while also catching 3 passes for 38 yards. Tim Hightower still got the majority of the yardage and the carries, so this may have been a one week type of a deal and knowing Mike Shannan we may never know. Still at just $4,700 on FanDuel, he makes for a very interesting pickup against Dallas this week.

Isaac Redman ? RB ? Pittsburgh Steelers
Rashard Mendenhall is the unquestioned starter in Pittsburgh, but if/when they get big leads they will turn to Redman to help keep Mendy healthy and well rested. He is the epitomy of a gamble play because you?re only going to get good value when they are in the midst of a blowout but hey for $4,700 it might be a gamble worth taking this weekend against the weakened Colts of Indianapolis.

Daniel Thomas ? RB ? Miami Dolphins
In his NFL debut against the Houston Texans, Thomas rushed 18 times for 107 yards and also added 1 catch for 10 yards. Reggie Bush is still in the mix in Miami but this debut was promising considering the fact that he was a second round pick in 2011. At $6,100 he is a little more expensive than most of our sleepers, but then again he might be a bit more reliable as well. And against Cleveland this weekend, he should see an equaled work load.

Eric Decker ? WR ? Denver Broncos
I have written about Decker several times in the past and all of my praise came to fruition this weekend as he caught 5 balls for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns. Granted he became the #1 guy after both Brandon Lloyd and Knowshon Moreno were ruled out due to injury, so it remains to be seen whether or not he will maintain that position when they return, although with a performance like that you know the coaches are going to be considering keeping him in there. If he remains a starter, his $5,500 salary at FanDuel is as much of a steal as you could possibly ask for.

Denarius Moore ? WR ? Oakland Raiders
I have to admit that watching Denarius chew up the Buffalo Bills corners this weekend was disheartening, but we managed to win regardless so now I will go ahead and praise him. The kid is a stud, and fast as can be which bodes well against most of the corners he will face. Unfortunately the only reason he was targeted so heavily against the Bills was due to Jacoby Ford and Louis Murphy both missing the game due to injury. But should they miss again in week 3 he should be considered for $5,200, although his team is facing the Jets and the #1 receiver = Revis Island USUALLY. Though something tells me that with his speed and leaping ability, he might be in for a few big plays regardless.

David Nelson ? WR ? Buffalo Bills
Ah, my favorite, getting to boast about a player on my favorite team, the Buffalo Bills! Nelson is a #2 in Buffalo but does not garner much attention as thus far Stevie Johnson and Fred Jackson have garnered most of it. Against the New England Patriots this week you can rest assured that the Bills will be airing it out, and at $5,200 he makes for an interesting gamble pick.

Jerome Simpson ? WR ? Cincinnati Bengals
A.J. Green seems to be getting most of the attention in Cincy, but Jerome deserves some of that as well. He was targeted 9 times last Sunday, catching 4 passes for 136 yards and no touchdowns. Look for the Bengals to air it out again this week against the 49ers of San Francisco. Simpson is priced at $5,200 on FanDuel.

Titus Young ? WR ? Detroit Lions
The Lions are looking as explosive as ever so far this season, and they have a lot of options on offense. This past weekend Titus was targeted 5 times for a total of 89 yards, whereas week 1 he was targeted 0 times. With the amount of people that Matthew Stafford spreads the ball around to, I am not yet ready to anoint Titus as a top WR value pick but at $4,800 he makes for an interesting pickup. Against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend who should be another easy win for Detroit.

Nate Washington ? WR ? Tennessee Titans
Most (if not all) of the attention in Tennessee has been given to Kenny Britt, and for good reason, he is a total stud. However the one guy that everyone is forgetting about is Nate Washington who has managed to string together two solid weeks in a row now catching 13 total passes for 166 yards. He has yet to score, but when you?re catching those types of balls you will find pay dirt eventually. Week 3 opponent Denver is giving up 21 points a game, so I would expect another solid outing for this $5,900 receiver.

Preston Parker ? WR ? Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Here is another guy you?ve never heard of because of all the attention that we give to Kellen Winslow and Mike Williams in Tampa Bay. Preston Parker however has caught a total of 10 balls for 142 yards thus far this season and at just $4,800 against an Atlanta Falcons that is giving up 30+ points a game, he looks to be a solid play again this weekend.

Fred Davis ? TE ? Washington Redskins
I love Fred Davis and have featured him many a times in my weekly rundown posts. He has caught a total of 11 passes for 191 yards with a score so far this season, and is on his way to becoming a break out tight end this year. Be advised however that Chris Cooley has not been at 100% so one would assume that he will become a factor at some point. As a daily player we shouldn?t assume that the week Cooley becomes a threat is this week, and thus at $6,100 he becomes an interesting pickup against a Dallas team that is giving up 24 points a game.

Detroit Lions Defense/Special Teams
At $5,300 against the Vikings you have to give the Lions SERIOUS consideration. Their offense is clicking which has enabled them to attack more and its shown through the amount of fumbles forced/recovered as well as interceptions.

And The Value Team Is
week 3 fanduel value rosterAfter utilizing the aforementioned information I threw together what looks to be a rather competitive team for this weekend over at FanDuel. Be advised that as of Tuesday neither Daily Joust nor DraftStreet have released NFL pricing, otherwise I would?ve added that into this post as well. Feel free to use this lineup, critique it, whatever you wish, it was slapped together using the value picks. As you?ll notice by utilizing 4 value picks I was able to include two top tier running backs primed for big weeks as well as Matthew Stafford who, if healthy has shown the ability to produce time and time again.
