Relationship Advice ? Love Isn't Everything
Is there an assumption that girls are more focused on love than guys, and is that a fair and accurate characterization?
I think there?s definitely an assumption that that?s the way the world works. Just as there?s an assumption that guys cheat and girls don?t. I think the reality, certainly from my experience and my exposure, is that more guys are actually looking for love than girls.
I don?t know if we have a generation of men who weren?t loved enough by their mother?s, but there is a real desperation in the male community right now. A whole generation of men who want validation from women. Whether they?re seeking their mother?s validation or not, I don?t know.
Women on the other hand are enjoying a new age. It?s an age where they can go out and work. Not only be a part of the work force, but also hold down really high value, high status, and well paying jobs. Once upon a time, the high point of a woman?s success was when she got married, had kids, and became a good housewife. That wasn?t too long ago, probably only thirty to forty years ago.
Now those things rarely if ever feature in a woman?s top three or four achievements in her life. There are more opportunities for them now. As a part of this, I think you will find that women are incredibly open to the possibility of getting involved in casual relationships. They?re happy to have relationships that aren?t completely based around love. They?re happy to, if they do experience love, just to let it happen organically, and not to feel like they have to force it.
I was able to use that to my advantage because that?s where my mindset was also at. I didn?t have a lot of success with women when I was growing up. I felt like I missed the boat in that regard, and a part of that was that I felt like I was playing catch up from the ages of twenty-four to thirty.
It was a good opportunity for me to recognize that I could still have a fulfilling relationship with someone who was enjoyable to be around, without having to put the pressure on myself to be in love with that person.
As you progress and you start to check boxes with what you wanted to achieve in pickup, maybe love will one day find you too. It happened to me: I went from a place of not believing in the very existence of love, to meeting a girl who flipped that on its head for me.
However, that process found me, I didn?t have to try to force it, so that?s what I would encourage guys to do. Focus on getting as much relationship experience as you can, and give yourself the green light to be able to that without having to consider love as a necessarily integral part of those relationships. Then, when the time is right, love will come find you.
