not gonna lie man, you chose some pretty sick pictures. What's the general tech spec of the setting?
Mainly asking because it seems you're doing an awesome looking Halo/Mass Effect fusion and I'm 100% interested since I fucking love them both
Whoa. Where'd all this enthusiasm come from? If you have a character ready, go ahead and submit them. By tech spec, Nekohina, what do you mean?
Like the level of technology available for things like weapons, armor, physical augments, the general "standard equipment". I was thinking about going full soldier spec
Just a note, as the story progresses to the point where we "might" meet other races, you can add a non-human sentient main character to the roster. I say might because I haven't planned to up that point yet, but I am keeping my options open.
Hmm, I'm beginning to think I might need to add the tech spec to the front page. I'll give you the gist of it, we're still using solid projectile weapons like assault rifles, but we're on the verge of energy based projectile weapons like particle/pulse rifles, and etc. As for armor, I would encompass a full spectrum from recon suits to ballistic combat suits, with internal monitors/scanners/communications. I fancy the idea of wrist communicators, and holographic communications, projectors, and starmaps.
got it. I'll also PM what I was thinking of making in terms of augments and armor, then hash out the illegals
Is there anyway I can combine the marine and fighter pilot together? Best of both worlds!
Yeah, that's totally fine with me. A Marine fighter pilot works.
Secondly, might I create a character who is a medic?
I would like to put in a character for Second in Command, if you don't mind?
I know the list was...extensive but I didn't want to write up anything illegal before I submitted my character
Just a note I won't be around tomorrow for the 4th of July. Maybe. Dunno. Might be. Perhaps.
Do you mind if we have two characters or do you want to keep it at one each?

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) ? British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline will pay $3 billion in fines ? the largest health care fraud settlement in U.S. history ? for criminal and civil violations involving 10 drugs that are taken by millions of people.
The Justice Department said Monday that GlaxoSmithKline PLC will plead guilty to promoting popular antidepressants Paxil and Wellbutrin for unapproved uses. The company also will plead guilty to failing to report to the government for seven years some safety problems with diabetes drug Avandia, which was restricted in the U.S. and banned in Europe after it was found in 2007 to sharply increase the risks of heart attacks and congestive heart failure.
In addition to the fine, Glaxo agreed to resolve civil liability for promoting Paxil, Wellbutrin, asthma drug Advair and two lesser-known drugs for unapproved uses. The company also resolved accusations that it overcharged the government-funded Medicaid program for some drugs, and that it paid kickbacks to doctors to prescribe several drugs including Flovent for asthma and Valtrex for genital herpes.
Sir Andrew Witty, Glaxo's CEO, expressed regret Monday and said the company has learned "from the mistakes that were made."
This is the latest in a string of settlements related to drug companies putting profits ahead of patients. In recent years, the government has cracked down on drugmakers' tactics, which include marketing medicines for unapproved uses. While doctors are allowed to prescribe medicines for any use, drugmakers cannot promote them in any way that is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
"Let me be clear, we will not tolerate health care fraud," Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole said Monday during a news conference at the Justice Department in Washington.
Glaxo is scheduled to plead guilty to the criminal charges and have the settlement approved at a hearing Thursday in U.S. District Court in Boston. In addition to the $3 billion penalty ? which includes a $1 billion criminal fine and forfeiture and $2 billion to resolve civil claims ? Glaxo agreed to be monitored by the government for five years to ensure that it complies with marketing and other rules.
The case against Glaxo was originally brought in January 2003 by two whistleblowers, former Glaxo sales representatives Greg Thorpe and Blair Hamrick. In January 2011, the federal government joined in the case.
Prosecutors said Glaxo illegally promoted Paxil for treating depression in children from 1998 to 2003, even though it wasn't approved for anyone under age 18. The company also promoted Wellbutrin from 1999 through 2003 for weight loss, sexual dysfunction, substance addictions and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, although it was only approved for treatment of major depression.
Starting in 2001, Thorpe reported to his district manager, then to Glaxo's human resources department and finally to Glaxo's chief of global compliance about a number of improper marketing practices. The compliance chief began an internal investigation, which confirmed Thorpe's allegations through various ways including marketing materials and interviews with Hamrick and other sales representatives, according to lawyers for the two men.
Brian Kenney and Tavy Deming, attorneys for the two salesmen, said top management did nothing to stop the illegal practices, pressured Thorpe to resign and later fired Hamrick for allegedly not cooperating with the company's investigation of one kickback allegation.
According to Deming, Hamrick reported that at a 2000 regional meeting of sales representatives in Las Vegas, they were directed to promote Wellbutrin as the drug that makes patients happy, skinny and sexually turned on, part of a catchy national slogan repeated to doctors.
Thorpe said in a statement Monday that he was penalized after he reported kickbacks being paid to doctors and sales reps encouraging doctors to promote drugs for unapproved uses, including using Paxil and Wellbutrin in children.
"In the end, I was told that my concerns were not valid. I was put on leave" after a 24-year career, Thorpe said. He added that he was told to either "take a severance package or go back to work for the same people, doing the same things I had reported to management."
Thorpe and Hamrick ? and two other sales rep whistleblowers who joined the case shortly after them ? will receive an as-yet undecided portion of the $3 billion settlement.
The Glaxo case underscores how aggressive the Justice Department has become in going after similar cases. In a May settlement, Abbott Laboratories pleaded guilty and agreed to pay the government a $700 million criminal fine and forfeiture for promoting Depakote, approved for bipolar disorder and epilepsy, for use in patients with dementia and autism. That was on top of civil settlements with numerous states and the federal government totaling $800 million.
Prior to the Glaxo settlement, the record-setting case involved Pfizer Inc., the world's biggest drugmaker. It paid the government $2.3 billion in 2009 in criminal and civil fines for improperly marketing 13 different drugs, including erectile-dysfunction drug Viagra and cholesterol fighter Lipitor, the top-selling drug in the world for years. Pfizer was accused of encouraging doctors to prescribe its drugs with free golf, massages and junkets to posh resorts.
"For far too long, we have heard that the pharmaceutical industry views these settlements merely as the cost of doing business," said Acting Assistant Attorney General Stuart F. Delery, head of Justice's civil division. "Today's resolution seeks not only to punish wrongdoing and recover taxpayer dollars, but to ensure GSK's future compliance with the law."

In the past half decade, the Supplemental Draft has offered less than adequate talent. In fact, in order to find impactful players only 2007 fifth-round pick Jared Gaither and 2006 third-round pick Ahmad Brooks stand out, but even the latter took time to develop. Despite the lack of talent, at least one player has been selected every year in recent history excluding 2008, with multiple third-round picks used as of late (Terrelle Pryor, Jeremy Jarmon, and Brooks). Could a similar talent rise from this year's crop? Below are brief evaluations of players already committed to this year's Supplemental Draft (on July 12th) and the list will be updated throughout the week as more names are released.
?
TCU RB Ed Wesley (5'9/200/4.46)
Positives: Blessed with a thick build, Wesley uses his low center of gravity to break plenty of tackles. He may look top heavy at times, but Wesley consistently lowers his shoulders through the hole with both arms covering the football and frequently bounces off first contact. When the hole is there, he has no problem bursting through it and utilizes small movements at the second level instead of making himself an easy target by running straight ahead. These subtleties show Wesley keeps his eyes up, reading the defense and occasionally changing sides of the field on downfield runs to open space. Wesley does favor his lateral hop, but it is somewhat understandable because the movement certainly covers a lot of ground quickly. Career stats: 387 rushes for 2442 yards, 21 touchdowns. He only hauled in 22 receptions in three years of quality production for 314 yards and three touchdowns. 11 punt returns?for 120 yards.
?
Negatives: Wesley is far too indecisive behind the line of scrimmage. If the running lane is not a clear path, he goes into a bit of a panic with plenty of wasted movement. As mentioned previously, Wesley favors the lateral hop, either to stretch well defended runs outside or to work back between the tackles. Too often he was tackled for a loss with his feet frozen. Wesley is game when getting physical in pass protection but is repeatedly pushed back on first contact. He is listed as having high 4.4 ability, but I did not see flashes of breakaway speed likely due to two reasons: he ran in plenty of trash at the second level while focusing on staying on his feet, and he constantly used quick movements to evade rather than trying to build speed and out run tacklers. Wesley missed three games last year due to a shoulder injury but finished the season strong.
?
Outlook: It is obvious Wesley is a tough runner that offers a nice base and low center of gravity to pick up extra yards after contact. However, his indecision behind the line of scrimmage is readily apparent, stutter stepping when a running lane is not clear. It undoubtedly does not look like patience. There is a lot to like past the line of scrimmage, where Wesley uses quick movements, vision, and power to pick up quality yards between the numbers. With that said, I prefer him over drafted running backs like Terrance Ganaway, Dan Herron, and Alfred Morris so a sixth- or seventh-round selection is likely but he certainly could go undrafted and sign on with a team as a free agent. It helps Wesley's cause that he is leaving TCU on his own terms for family reasons rather than off-field field issues forcing his decision, although no specifics were given.
?
Baylor WR Josh Gordon (6'3/220/4.43)
Positives: From the start it is apparent that Gordon offers a great combination of size and speed. Almost strictly lining up as an outside receiver, Gordon did most of his damage on bubble screens and when running sideline curls as a run/pass option for Robert Griffin III. There were flashes where he dealt with physical defensive backs downfield with persistence or a lean to evade. Even more impressively, Gordon showed glimpses of being a more than capable lead blocker on the edge, paving the way for long runs by a trailing Kendall Wright after a short screen. Unlike other long wide receivers, Gordon builds up speed fairly quickly and continues that straight line pace while tracking targets over his shoulder.
?
Negatives: As I stated before, Gordon lined up almost strictly as an outside receiver (when disregarding bubble screens where his job was solely to block). That is to be expected due to his 6'3/220 pound frame, but he is not the same quick twitch athlete as other Baylor wideouts. This is obvious when Gordon attempts to run after the catch, as he is almost a one move or straight-line runner that has difficulties bending or cutting to evade. This lower body stiffness is hidden in routes due to the limited route tree Gordon was asked to run in Baylor's fast paced offense. He tracks the ball well vertically and even left his feet on occasion but could not come down with the reception in traffic, failing to create that sliver of separation at the catch point. Most of all, Gordon faced an indefinite suspension at Baylor after the 2010 season after being charged in a Taco Bell drive-thru with possession of marijuana. He then transferred to Utah last year and was forced by rule to sit out last season.
?
Outlook: Gordon seems to be drawing the most media interest leading up to July 12 and I am left wondering why. Sure, he offers a 6'3 frame and is said to run a mid 4.4 forty, but to me the positives nearly end there. Straight-line speed is great, but he struggled to bend when changing directions on breaking routes, albeit a small route sample size at Baylor. There were times where Gordon was an efficient edge blocker, but just as often he showed little effort and overextended all the way to the ground. To top it off, there are multiple character questions that teams will have to answer in a short period of time. Gordon opted out of one problem by choosing to transfer following an arrest rather than working through the issue at Baylor. Then, instead of proving that the transfer was the correct decision by playing this season, he bolts to the NFL. So we are left with a prospect that hasn't touched the field in a game situation in over a year, has always been more of an athlete than receiver, and has unanswered off-field flags? Count me out. Team's overvalue draft picks, especially future selections, so I would be surprised if Gordon draws more than a sixth-round bid.

Mountain View's already made it clear it doesn't want walls to get between you and its mapping of the world, and now those hungry Android-using indoor Britons can get in on the action. There's only a hair over 40 venues covered right now -- a mix of museums, stations, malls and airports in the main -- and most of them in London. With building owners being able to upload their own maps, however, this should / could expand quickly. Good news either way, though if you can get lost at London Bridge Station, then no amount of maps will likely help.

NAYPYITAW (Reuters) - Myanmar President Thein Sein plans to reshuffle his cabinet and appoint a new vice-president to reduce the influence of anti-reform ministers and accelerate changes in the former pariah state, several lawmakers said.
The imminent reshuffle could sideline some hardliners by reducing their responsibilities in the 37-member cabinet or give them new roles, said the lawmakers.
"He needs to make the cabinet more vibrant and effective and he has to remove some conservatives who are reluctant to accept his reforms," said one lawmaker, who declined to be identified.
The first to go was first Vice-President Tin Aung Myint Oo, a former four-star general considered a leader of hardline remnants of the military junta that ruled for half a century and was close to its paramount leader, former dictator Than Shwe.
The joint upper and lower houses on Wednesday endorsed Tin Aung Myint Oo's resignation and house speaker Khin Aung Myint said the military delegates in both chambers would have until July 10 to choose his successor.
He was one of two vice-presidents chosen by lawmakers and submitted his resignation on May 3. Thein Sein did not accept it and instead gave him leave for two months, say lawmakers and several government officials. That has stoked speculation about his role, including rumors of his deteriorating health.
The pace of change in Myanmar, already dramatic, looks set to accelerate after Thein Sein, a former general, announced on June 19 a second wave of reforms that aim to triple the size of the economy in five years and modernize a backward state where a third of the population live below the poverty line.
Sources with knowledge of the reshuffle discussions expect two ministers to be axed when seven ministries are merged into three portfolios: agriculture, transport and electric power.
Two prominent ministers are likely to be reassigned to become more central to the reforms, with Rail Transportation Minister Aung Min - Thein Sein's top peace negotiator - becoming a president's office minister and Industry Minister Soe Thein, head of the country's Investment Commission, given the National Planning and Economic Development portfolio.
He would replace Tin Naing Thein, who would become Finance Minister in place of former general Hla Tun.
Tin Aung Myint Oo's resignation as vice-president coincided with the opposition National League for Democracy party (NLD) ? vilified for years by the former military government ? filling several rows of seats in parliament, marking their transition from activists to lawmakers - minus their most famous dissident.
SUU KYI CRITICISED
Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi came in for criticism for not showing up for the start of parliament and delaying until Monday when she will sit in the chamber. She cited exhaustion following her 17-day European tour that ended on Saturday.
"We have to recognize she is exhausted but we feel she should have prepared to come here," said Khine Maung Yi of a rival opposition party, the National Democratic Force (NDF).
NLD lawmaker Susu Lwin said she was disappointed by the lack of debate in parliament. "The way it is conducted is very tense. It would be better if it was less formal and we didn't have to submit questions in advance," she said in an interview.
The successor to Tin Aung Myint Oo will be chosen by armed forces delegates and is therefore almost certain to be another military man. The top contender is election commission chairman Tin Aye, a retired lieutenant-general well respected in the army and known as a moderate, who graduated from the elite Defense Services Academy in the same class as Thein Sein.
Thein Sein faces pressure from allies to strengthen his cabinet's ability to carry out reforms, particularly with resistance from conservatives likely to stiffen in coming months as the government attempts to open up an economy that has long benefited an elite with strong ties to the military.
Foreign investors have descended on Myanmar, but most appear to be window shopping, awaiting legislation including a foreign investment law that would protect their assets and clarify rules for foreign companies operating in the country.
Tin Naing Thein, national planning and economic development minister, said in an interview on Wednesday he expected the investment law to be approved by parliament and endorsed by the president by the end of this month.
Some Myanmar business leaders are concerned the proposed investment law could hand too much influence to multinationals when domestic firms are still coping with the transition from state controls and cannot compete with international brands following this year's suspension of U.S. and European sanctions.
The government must also counter public pressure for faster change. Protests have erupted in recent months over chronic power outages, textile wages and farm land reform. Long-simmering tension in northwestern Rakhine state between mostly stateless Rohingya Muslims and majority Buddhists has flared into violence that killed at least 80 people.
Being seen as moving too slowly on reforms could be devastating for Thein Sein's ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) in the next general election in 2015. Suu Kyi's NLD won by-elections in a landslide in April, sending an ominous signal to the military-backed USDP.
"BIG ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT"
Although the government insists there will be no backsliding on reforms, some freedoms are being at least partially rolled back. State censorship returned during the weeks of unrest in Rakhine state, and a much-vaunted media law has faced delays. Journalists covering this parliamentary session also faced tighter restrictions compared with the opening in February.
At that time, reporters could arrive early at the marble-floored complex with its soaring ceilings and freely interview members of parliament as they arrived. On Wednesday, journalists were kept waiting more than an hour in a bus outside the complex until the members had taken their seats.
But lower house speaker Shwe Mann highlighted the media's importance in his opening remarks to parliament. "It is essential for the lawmakers to listen to media's criticisms and the opinions," he said.
Shwe Mann, once a powerful figure in the former military junta, also urged parliamentarians to set aside their differences ? from religion to ethnicity ? to work for democracy and reconciliation, a comment that carries resonance given fighting with autonomy-seeking rebels in Kachin state and in the wake of a nationalist backlash against Rohingya Muslims.
The NDF's Khine Maung Yi praised the reforms but suggested far more needed to be done. "Compared to the past it is more acceptable but there is big room for improvement," he said.
