First lady's trips boost health ? and her husband (AP)

DALLAS ? In just the past few days, she's danced with cheering school kids, chatted with troops, swapped ideas with busy parents and engaged in a friendly cooking competition with stars from "Top Chef."

Michelle Obama's national tour was intended to promote the second anniversary of her campaign against childhood obesity. The images have been disarming, intriguing and nonpolitical, just the type of thing her husband's re-election campaign can't get enough of.

Five years to the day after Sen. Barack Obama announced he was running for president, Mrs. Obama's travels this past week offered fresh evidence of what an out-sized role she's assumed in the public eye and how powerful a political asset a first lady can be.

Make no mistake, Mrs. Obama said she's "incredibly enthusiastic" about making the case for her husband's re-election.

Simply put, "I want him to be my president for another four years," she said in a 40-minute interview Friday with a few reporters.

In recent weeks Mrs. Obama has seemingly been everywhere: doing pushups with Ellen DeGeneres, serving veggie pizza to Jay Leno, playing tug-of-war with Jimmy Fallon in the White House. Then came the tour of Arkansas, Florida, Iowa and Texas to mark the two-year-point for her "Let's Move" initiative.

The first lady draws a line between her policy efforts on childhood obesity and her political activities. But such distinctions often are lost on the public.

In an election year, it's all to the good for Barack Obama that his popular wife is traveling the country promoting can't-miss issues like healthy living.

"This is a bit of a two-fer," Mrs. Obama said in her interview on Friday, "because it's an issue that I care about, and it's an issue that's important to the country. ... I want to make sure that what I do enhances him."

The first lady added that she knew from the beginning of her husband's presidency that she had to choose issues that were important to her personally because "if you're just doing it for political reasons or there's some ulterior, people smell that out so easily and it's hard to sustain."

To a more limited extent, Mrs. Obama also fills a more overtly political role by headlining private fundraisers that raise millions for her husband's campaign, reaching out to supporters through conference calls to various states and shooting out periodic emails to campaign backers around the country.

That part of her labors will increase considerably in the months to come.

But the first lady said she's careful to protect her time as "Sasha and Malia's mom."

"My approach to campaigning is, `This is the time that I have to give to the campaign and whatever you do with that time is up to you, but when it's over, don't even look at me. ... No calls. No anything."

For now, the first lady's most visible role is tied to her signature issue of fighting obesity, allowing her to connect with voters on an emotional level and relate to them as a mother who has struggled with some of the same challenges that other families face.

"We're constantly trying to make sure that what we do is on point with what is going on in people's lives," Mrs. Obama told parents this past week as she chatted with them over low-calorie plates of chicken and pasta at an Olive Garden restaurant in Fort Worth. "I mean, at one point I was normal. I went to the grocery store and I did all that."

Voters typically don't pay attention to whether an event is political or not, said Democratic strategist Chris Lehane.

"They're paying attention to whether they like what they're seeing and whether they connect to it," Lehane said. Wth a first lady talking about issues that transcend the partisan divide, he said, "the mere fact that they're out there talking reflects well on their spouse."

It can't be lost on Obama's political advisers that Iowa and Florida will be strongly contested in the fall election.

While the president's favorability ratings and those of Vice President Joe Biden slipped considerably over their first three years in office, Mrs. Obama's have remained strong.

Barack Obama's favorability rating now stands at 51 percent, Biden's at 38 percent. By contrast, 66 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of the first lady, about even with her ratings on Inauguration Day, according to the Pew Research Center.

That's about where Laura Bush stood in the fourth year of her husband's first term, and it's considerably higher than Hillary Rodham Clinton's 42 percent at the start of her husband's fourth year as president.

Mrs. Obama is particularly popular with women and younger Americans, polling shows. And she does well with the moderate and liberal Republicans and independents whom Democrats will try to lure away in the fall elections.

There are other ways to measure her appeal: Her Twitter account shot up to more than a half-million followers in less than a month. And her Facebook page has more than 6.6 million "likes."

The first lady still has her detractors. Her anti-obesity campaign has attracted some "nanny state" grumbling from conservatives who think it intrudes on personal matters.

She said Friday that the five years since her husband announced for president actually have turned her from a natural pessimist into more of an optimist, hoping to make the most of her time in the White House.

"There's a window," she said. "Whether it's four years or eight years, it's not a lot of time."

As for how she's preparing her daughters for the coming campaign, sure to be hard-fought and bitter at times, Mrs. Obama said her focus is on reassuring the girls that "whatever happens, you guys are going to be good. So don't worry about this, just focus on your world."

Preparing them for a victory or loss, she said, "I just try to play both sides of the scenario and make both sides seem great."

So far, Mrs. Obama has headlined 32 fundraisers over the past 10 months, including six this year. Tickets to her political events range from $100 to $10,000, making them more accessible than higher-dollar fundraisers for the president. And her political schedule includes smaller cities, such as Charlottesville, Va., and Cape Elizabeth, Maine, that aren't likely to draw a presidential visit.

Still, she's hauling in millions with a fundraising stump speech that mixes a recitation of administration policy initiatives with a personal sketch of her husband as a man who stays up late after the children are in bed fretting over the concerns of ordinary Americans.

It's the same humanizing role that Mrs. Obama serves regularly in her public appearances, as she mixes public policy with stories about her own family.

What parent wouldn't think it was cool when she confessed to her dinner guests at the Olive Garden that her daughters aren't that interested in the White House kitchen garden ? "because anything I do they're not interested in."

Cameras can found for fairly cheap or they can be very pricey. We would caution you about what you choose because you can find cameras that are cheaply made, provide poor image quality, and basically won?t last a long time. The following is some additional information regarding security and surveillance cameras.

You can find a wide price range with security cameras, not to mention a good range of applications. It is mostly dependent on what you need and want to see. This is your first point to consider. The price of the Swann Communications NightHawk 3 security camera is mid range. If it fits your budget and your needs, this camera is a good choice. For most, if not all, security monitoring applications, this camera?s image quality is more than good enough. An additional plus to the NightHawk3 is it is relatively easy to use and set-up for operation. However, this camera is not capable of recording anything. This camera is not manufactured with digital video recording capabilities. Whether or not that is an issue with you just depends on needs and personal preference.

Santorum, Romney sell selves to conservatives (AP)

WASHINGTON ? GOP presidential rivals made contrasting appeals to conservatives Friday, with Mitt Romney saying he proved his mettle as Massachusetts governor and Rick Santorum saying Romney is so moderate that electing him would be a "hollow victory."

Their speeches to the Conservative Political Action Conference came as Santorum tries to convert his surprising caucus wins this week into a resilient, muscular campaign and Romney seeks to persuade conservatives that he won't disappoint them.

Santorum's tack was unorthodox, and perhaps risky. Facing Republicans who desperately want to replace President Barack Obama, Santorum said it's even more vital to put a conservative crusader into the White House.

"We will no longer abandon and apologize for the policies and principles that made this country great for a hollow victory in November," he said.

If voters see that as a hint that it's more important to be ideologically pure than to oust Obama, Santorum may have to explain more fully in the days ahead.

Romney, speaking a few hours later, said his four-year record in Massachusetts proved that he will fight for conservative values against the toughest odds. "I know conservatism because I have lived conservatism," he said. Veering briefly from his written text, he called himself "severely conservative."

But Romney skated past details of his administration that trouble some right-leaning groups, including requiring state residents to obtain health insurance.

Without saying Romney's name, Santorum said the former governor's health care record would make it impossible for him to draw needed contrasts with Obama. He said Romney had created "the stepchild of Obamacare."

Saying the Obama-backed 2010 health care law "will crush economic freedom," Santorum urged Republicans not to nominate "someone who would simply give that issue away in the fall."

Santorum warned Republicans against a premature emphasis on moderate voters, who could decide the presidential election in swing states.

"We always talk about, `Oh, how are we going to get the moderates?'" Santorum said. "Why would an undecided voter vote for a candidate of a party who the party is not excited about?"

Romney alluded to his rivals obliquely, never saying their names. Presidential leadership "isn't about getting a bill out of subcommittee or giving a speech," he said. "I am the only candidate in this race, Republican or Democrat, who has never worked a day in Washington."

His remarks appeared aimed at former Pennsylvania Sen. Santorum, former House speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Ron Paul, all of whom spent years in Congress. Gingrich was scheduled to address CPAC later Friday. Paul was not scheduled to address the conference.

Romney tried to reassure the audience that antipathy to Obama will energize millions of voters this fall, an indirect way of saying the lukewarm reception he gets from some conservatives isn't crucial.

Obama "is the conservative movement's top recruiter," he said.

Romney said he would cut federal spending like he cut state spending in Massachusetts, although he vowed not to touch military budgets.

"I was a conservative governor," he said. "I fought against long odds in a deep blue state. I understand the battles that we, as conservatives, must fight because I have been on the front lines."

Santorum and Romney criticized the Obama administration's bid to require Catholic-affiliated employers to cover birth control in their health insurance plans. After Santorum's morning speech and before Romney's afternoon address, Obama announced an update. He said religious-affiliated employers will not have to cover birth control for their employees. Instead, the government will demand that insurance companies be directly responsible for providing contraception.

Santorum, a Catholic with a strong record of fighting legalized abortion, said Obama is "telling the Catholic Church that they are forced to pay for things that are against their basic tenets and teachings."

"It's not about contraception, it's about economic liberty," he said.

Romney, a Mormon who once supported legalized abortion, vowed to reverse "every single Obama regulation that attacks our religious liberty and threatens innocent life."

His critics cite a 2005 interview in which Romney said rape victims deserved either access to or information about so-called morning after pills that some say are a form of abortion.

Both men restated their standard criticisms of Obama. Romney called him "the poster child for the arrogance of government."

Georgia primary may not be a Gingrich slam dunk (AP)

ATLANTA ? The Georgia presidential primary may not be a slam dunk for Republican hopeful Newt Gingrich, a congressman from the state for two decades. Rival Mitt Romney is signaling that the biggest prize on Super Tuesday could be up for grabs.

Romney's swing into Georgia on Wednesday had Gingrich on the defensive. After the former Massachusetts governor announced his visit, the Gingrich campaign rushed out a news release trumpeting word that Gingrich would be in Georgia for two days next week.

A win in Georgia is key to Gingrich's Southern strategy, which calls for him to rebound from five straight losses with a strong run in Dixie. His lone victory in the GOP race came in South Carolina.

"I think if he wants to continue he has got to win Georgia," former Gov. Sonny Perdue told The Associated Press. "And I think he must win fairly decisively."

Perdue, Georgia's first GOP governor since Reconstruction, had been a national co-chairman for Gingrich but dropped his support for the former House speaker last spring when top campaign aides and consultants walked out.

Ten states will vote on Super Tuesday, March 6. With 76 delegates, Georgia is the largest catch.

Romney, the third-place finisher in Georgia's 2008 presidential primary, has tapped into the deep pockets of metro Atlanta's business community. But he has yet to win an election in the Deep South and his momentum is in question after a trio of losses Tuesday. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, fresh off victories in Colorado, Missouri and Minnesota, was last in Georgia in the fall and has little organization. Neither does the GOP's other presidential candidate, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas.

Gingrich is credited as an early architect of the Georgia's now dominant Republican Party. His campaign headquarters is in Atlanta. Unlike states where he has a meager infrastructure, he has a solid network of support here. Gov. Nathan Deal and most of the state's House delegation are behind him and are beginning assemble a grassroots operation.

Rep. Jack Kingston, a key Gingrich backer in Georgia, said he and others would be pouring money into direct mailers, robocalls and ads to assist Gingrich.

"There's a lot of ground to cover on Super Tuesday, so we want to make it was as easy as we can for him in Georgia," Kingston said.

Kingston called Gingrich the "godfather of the Republican movement" in the state and said he still has favored-son status, even though he's lived in Virginia for more than a decade.

Not everyone is sold on Gingrich as the hometown boy.

"Newt Gingrich ain't no Southerner," said Jack Stenger, a 45-year-old from Atlanta who attended Romney's rally in Atlanta on Wednesday. "I don't think people in this state, I don't think they see him as a Southerner."

Born in Pennsylvania, Gingrich moved around after his mother married an Army soldier. The family eventually settled in Columbus, Ga., and Gingrich went on to teach at West Georgia College before seeking a House seat.

Georgia has changed dramatically since he last held office in 1998. The population has risen by more than 18 percent, according to Census Bureau data. Gingrich never ran statewide in Georgia, although his suburban Atlanta district was redrawn several times, giving him a relatively sprawling base.

Gingrich relied on stalwart support from evangelical voters and social conservatives in South Carolina, and such voters will also play starring roles in a Georgia primary. Exit polls from the 2008 presidential primary in Georgia ? former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee was the winner then ? found 6 in 10 GOP voters were white evangelicals and born-again Christians.

Still, Romney has a strong team in Georgia left over from his 2008 bid. His top backer in the state, Attorney General Sam Olens, said voters this year are interested less in biography than in "jobs, jobs, jobs."

"Gov. Romney is the only one with a background in private enterprise, who created jobs," Olens said. "He can absolutely win Georgia."

Romney, he said, is planning to return to Georgia for at least one more public appearance before March 6.

The true test of whether Romney makes a serious play for Georgia would come if he or any of the political action committees supporting him were to invest money in TV ads in the state. Forcing Gingrich to defend Georgia could also be a feint by Romney, a move designed to distract Gingrich from other states where he needs more time to make inroads with voters.

At his rally Wednesday in Atlanta, Romney made only a passing reference to Gingrich, noting that Gingrich and Santorum had "spent a lot of time in Washington." At the mention of Gingrich's name the crowd of several hundred booed loudly.

Outside, six people stood with small homemade signs supporting the former congressman.

Rep. Phil Gingrey, another Gingrich backer from Georgia, acknowledged that Georgia would be a fight with Santorum and Paul still in the race, peeling off conservative voters.

"I do believe Newt will win Georgia," he said, "but it will be closer than it otherwise might have been."

(AP) ? The Pakistani army says it is holding a meeting with NATO and Afghan forces to improve coordination along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The meeting Wednesday seems to be a sign of thawing relations following American airstrikes that accidentally killed 24 Pakistani soldiers at two Afghan border posts on Nov. 26.

Pakistan retaliated by closing its border to supplies meant for NATO troops in Afghanistan and by kicking the U.S. out of a base used by American drones.

The Pakistani army rejected a U.S. investigation into the airstrikes. The probe concluded that mistakes were made on both sides and blamed Pakistani troops for triggering the incident by firing at coalition forces.

Both sides have said better coordination along the border is needed.

Website Traffic Generators - Great Home Business Ideas

Generating website traffic to your website must be your focus if you are seriously looking forward to making money from your online business. Traffic, for those who are new in online business, refers to your website visitors or people who come to your website when they do a keyword research. Your website is your online store where you display products for sale. To sell your products you need to drive so many people to your online business. The tools you use to do this are what I will refer to in this article as website traffic generators.

Website traffic generators are called so just because they generate or create traffic, which you need to do business. Traffic is very important to your online business. It?s your business?s life blood. No business can ever survive without customers. Your customers are among those visitors that come to your website, just like when people come to your conventional store to either buy or to do window shopping. The more people you receive, the more you are likely to make a sale. It?s the same thing with your online business. You need people to come to your online store (your website) to make a sale. These people are technically referred to as website traffic.

Creating website traffic takes a lot of time and effort. This is one reason you should not be tricked with scams who promise you to make money overnight from their programs. It requires you to put in time and effort. I repeat, you must spend time and put in a lot of effort to drive a steady stream of website traffic to your online business. It requires you to be self-disciplined, self-motivated, having good organizational skills, having a positive attitude and paying attention to detail to generate enough website traffic.

To generate a lot of traffic to your website, you have to get your link to as many sites as you can. Secondly, you have to work towards having your website listed among the top, preferably on the first page when one does a keyword research using your main website keywords. These are the two most important aspects on which you should always focus on.

There are 3 major website traffic generators which include having an affiliate program, search engine optimization (SEO) and article writing. Now let me explain a little bit further how these three website traffic generators create traffic.

1. Having an affiliate program.

Having your own affiliate program is a sure way of generating thousands of links to your website. When people join your affiliate program, they link to your website and this eventually drives the people who visit their sites to your website. Remember that having so many links on many other sites generates traffic to your website.

2. Article marketing.

Writing articles is a wonderful website traffic generator. When you write articles and publish them on the internet through online directories, you create so many links to your website. When people read your articles and find them useful, they follow the link in your resource box to your site to read more information. Articles generate free targeted traffic and play a primary role in improving your website search engine ranking. Article marketing is my number one link and website traffic generator.

3. Search engine optimization (SEO)

SEO is a term used to refer to the various processes or procedures through which you work to improve your website?s visibility in the search engine result pages (SERPs). Search engines are websites that move around the internet looking for new webpages to rank. When search engines move around the internet, they scan website pages on any website in search of specific keywords or keyword phrases. When visitors do a keyword search at any search engine like Google, Bing, Ask and Yahoo, the results they get are displayed on numerous pages referred to as SERPs.

In order for your website to be ranked on the first page, which should be your primary target, you have to optimize your website?s pages. When people come looking for information and enter the keywords you used on your website, they are able to visit your site only when you are on the first page. Most people always stop at the first or second page and they get what they want. If your site is located deep inside hundreds of pages, believe me you will never get any visitors through search engines. Think search engine optimization to drive free targeted website traffic to your site.

For instance, the keyword phrase for this very site is ?Great Home Business Ideas?. If you searched at Google this keyword phrase, you would find this site on the first page. Even when you enter ?home business ideas? or ?home business? you will still find it on the first page out of probably one to five billion results or SERPs. Always monitor Google ranking for your website keywords to remain focused. What?s your Google ranking?

As I conclude, I would like to remind you that if you want to succeed in your online business, make sure you focus on link building and search engine optimization. Build links through having affiliate programs, article and forum marketing. Optimize your website pages and articles to drive free targeted traffic to your site. Think link building, think article marketing and think search engine optimization. Focus mostly on the 3 highlighted website traffic generators! You will win!

Simple Home Improvement Ideas | welcome to mimialbert.com

Upgrades for a home are personal; everybody has their own idea of what makes a comfortable living area. However, almost everyone can look around and find areas, either inside or outside their homes, that could make things more attractive, comfortable or efficient. If you need some inspiration and some fundamental thoughts on giving your living area a boost; here are some ideas.

Keeping your family and assets safe will give you peace of mind so you should consider increasing the security of your home. There are all sorts of security systems available and you can choose to install it yourself or hire a company to do it for you. The level of security you require as well as how much you are willing to spend is what will ultimately influence your decision regarding the type of system you will be purchasing. No matter what type of alarm system you buy, you really need to consider a motion detector which will all you to immediately identify whether or not there is somebody on your property. If an unauthorized person opens doors or windows, the alarm should be able to alert you. If you will be going with a professional service, before giving anyone your business make sure to do your due diligence and check them out first.

If you want a nicer garden and some additional shade and private areas, you can use things like shrubs, trees and hedges to do this. Shrubs and trees not only make your garden prettier but they are also a great way of absorbing excessive moisture and protecting you against the sun?s hot rays or the wind. Depending on the weather you have where you live, you could even enjoy some fruit from your own yard by planting fruit trees. You could plant living fence of hedges around your yard if you are looking for more privacy. It certainly looks better than putting up a wall and you can use all sorts of shrubs and plants to create a separation between your home and the rest of the world.

Outdoor living areas can be improved greatly by the addition of a pool, sauna or spa. The addition of a spa or swimming pool used to be a considerable investment; nowadays these items are well within our range, due to modern manufacturing techniques. The range of sizes is practically endless; you have the ability to pick from a very wide variety of dimensions. The appeal of a spa is not just for the obvious reason, but also for the health aspects.

If for some reason you cannot have a stationary pool or spa installed; you can always choose a portable version. Mobile Gadget is one of those topics that is important to so many people, and the reasons are personal and varied. Stop and think a bit about what each point means in your personal situation. You can get the input of others around you about all this, and of course that is your call, to be sure. Obviously it would be great to have a very well-rounded grasp on things. That is would be the ideal scenario, here, but you will not always have the time to do what is necessary for that to happen. We all have the same amount of time each day, but we think what normally occurs is people learn to focus. As always, take care of your self or perhaps someone else if you are helping them with this research.

As the above home improvement hints demonstrate, there is an array of choices for making optimistic improvements to both the interior and exterior of your home. Do not even take a stab at doing everything in an instant, but rather decide on a chore that does not take much to start or maybe even consider an area of your home that needs to be taken care of soon and go about it with a step-by-step technique.
